ABOUT SHANKARI
"Shankari and l met in 1991. It was my first trip to Bali and with a friend. Just as the plane was landing after a 24 hour trip my friend told me we were invited to a party on the Balinese coast some hours drive away. I was not pleased to be dragged off to a party feeling very tired and not liking parties at the best of times. However, my friend was insistant.

We arrived at an incredibly beautiful house in a scene that could only be desribed as paradise. It turns out to be Shankari's birthday party. 12 women were invited. I was to make the twelfth person.

We were dressed in white and silver and l met Shankari who turned out to be the most amazing person l had ever met and l had the most magical evening of my entire life. Shankari asked us each to write down the three things we would most like to be rid of in our lives and the three things we would most like to do in our lives. On the top of my list was "I would like to meet Clint Eastwood". Each of us in turn performed a ceremony as directed by Shankari. At the end we were to stand up and read out our list.

As l read out my first wish she smiled quietly and knowingly. She asked me to meet the woman sitting directly opposite me. She turned out to be Clint Eastwood's personal assistant, my dream was as simple as that. All l had to do was ask. I was literally amazed at the things l saw and heard that evening and Shankari and l have been like sisters ever since.

She is truly a magical person, not from this world. She is married to a Balinese Prince, living in paradise, having arrived from Australia in the eighties with four children, no money and a broken heart. She now has a palace in Bali(of which she was the architect and producer) a beautiful International retreat centre called Sacred River Retreat, as well as being the creator of all this amazingly powerful jewlery. She is currently completing her book entitled "Travels in a Red truck with the Cat in the Glovebox". Her new retreat is being built in Hawaii, "The City of Light".

Of all the artists l have met in my life (and l had a gallery in London for 26 years before l came to Santa Fe in 2001 to open this one) she is by far the most talented and amazing person l have ever known. She can create anything from nothing. Her jewelry is powerful as is she.

Please look at the work on the enclosed pages. The jewelry is unique. It has an energy that you can actually feel. It is beyond being just beautiful. Much it should be in museums.

Please contact me if you would like to know more about Shankari, her healing retreats, her new book or would like more information about her work.
